My tax experience and small business expertise allows me to offer my clients a wide range of services including:

Business Returns for Corporations, Partnerships and Sole Proprietors
Tax laws and returns can be complicated for corporations, partnerships and sole proprietorships. In addition to filing returns annually with the IRS, your business may need accurate financial statements for banking purposes or to help in making financial decisions. We always closely review the business records before preparing a tax return to be sure the information is accurate and reasonable. Whatever your situation, we will work with you to create a tax strategy for your business that will minimize tax burden, maximize cash flow and ensure compliance.

Business Consulting
Small business owners often do not have an experienced internal person such as a CFO that they can turn to help with financial decisions. Or, sometimes you just need an independent opinion. There are many reasons to schedule a consultation, such as wanting to better understand the tax implications of a major business decision, improving profit margins or discovering innovative ways to reward employees. One-on-one consultations will usually give you clarity on how to best move forward.

Individual Returns
Many people rely on off-the-shelf software to prepare their income tax returns. While this may work fine with simple returns, it’s less likely to result in an accurate calculation of tax liability with more involved returns. Tax law is complicated and continually changing. I make sure that my clients fully understand all aspects of their return and consider opportunities above and beyond what most tax software identifies. I also offer guidance during an audit or dispute with federal, state or local tax jurisdictions.
Whether you need representation during an audit or assistance replying to a notice, I can help resolve the matter.

Accurate record keeping is essential to a successful business. Financial reports provide support for tax returns and are useful in gauging the overall financial health of a company. Well-maintained books are valuable tools for assessing cash flow, establishing budgets, identifying opportunities and planning for and achieving financial goals. Throughout the year, and especially during tax preparation, we can offer adviceand answer questions so that your records more accurately reflect your financial situation and your tax preparation is smooth. In addition, we offer one-on-one coaching so that you can improve your bookkeeping and accounting systems.

Starting a Business
I can be an invaluable resource if you’re considering starting a new business or incorporating an existing one. For example, you must decide what type of legal entity you wish to be. Each type has unique strengths and weaknesses, which could have dramatic tax and legal implications. Additionally, you must notify the IRS and any states you plan to operate in that you will be conducting business.
I’ll walk you through the startup process, advise you of forms to be filed and fees to paid to federal and state agencies. You can then focus your efforts on building and running your business.
